21-12-12
The
21st day of the 12th month of the year 2012 marks the end of the
mayan calendar. There has been so much dust risen about the mayans , about their calendar, who they were? Their origin
and most importantly their “prophecy” of the end. But before we go into the
mayans in detail. Lets ask ourselves these questions: why so much noise about
the end? Why are people so concerned about the end of the world? Why is there
so much interest about this subject matter?
Well,
the answer to these questions are needless. They are already known , so no use
reiterating what is already a fact. But I must add one more question: why must
there be an end? (Take a moment to think about this before you read on)
There
must be an end because there is a beginning. As with all laws when applied, the
law of beginning and ending must be fulfilled. In this time ruled sphere everything that begins must of
necessity end. The question now is when.
Now,
who are the mayans ? where are they from? When did they exist? When did they
cease to exist? What did they prophecy?
We shall answer these questions progressively.
Geography
The Maya civilization
extended throughout the present-day southern Mexican states of Chiapas,
Tabasco, and the Yucatán Peninsula states of Quintana Roo, Campeche and
Yucatán. The Maya area also extended throughout the northern Central American
region, including the present-day nations of Guatemala, Belize, northern El
Salvador and western Honduras.
History
The
first clearly Maya settlements were established around 1800 BC in the Soconusco
region of the Pacific Coast. But the Maya calendar, which is based around the
so-called Mesoamerican Long Count calendar, began on a date equivalent to 11
August 3114 BC.
The
earliest recording of monumental inscriptions discovered was carbon dated to
around AD 250 . During this period the Mayas numbered in the millions, they
created a multitude of kingdoms and small empires, built monumental palaces and
temples, engaged in grandiose ceremonies, and developed an elaborate hieroglyphic
writing system. The social basis of this exuberant civilization was a large
political and economic intersocietal network (world system) extending
throughout the Maya region and beyond to the wider Mesoamerican world.
The
most notable monuments are the stepped pyramids they built in their religious
centers and the accompanying palaces of their rulers. The palace at Cancuén is
the largest in the Maya area, though the site, interestingly, lacks pyramids.
Other important archaeological remains include the carved stone slabs usually
called stelae (the Maya called them tetun, or "tree-stones"), which
depict rulers along with hieroglyphic texts describing their genealogy,
military victories, and other accomplishments.
Collapse
Maya
Collapse is one of the biggest mysteries in archaeology. What makes this
development so intriguing is the combination of the cultural sophistication
attained by the Maya before the collapse and the relative suddenness of the
collapse itself.
The
Maya centers of the southern lowlands went into decline during the 8th and 9th
centuries and were abandoned shortly thereafter. This decline was coupled with
a cessation of monumental inscriptions and large-scale architectural
construction. No universally accepted theory explains this collapse.
Astronomy
The
Maya were quite accomplished astronomers. Their primary interest, in contrast
to "western" astronomers, were Zenial Passages when the Sun crossed
over the Maya latitudes. On an annual basis the sun travels to its summer
solstice point, or the latitude of 23-1/3 degrees north.
Most
of the Maya cities were located south of this latitude, meaning that they could
observe the sun directly overhead during the time that the sun was passing over
their latitude. This happened twice a year, evenly spaced around the day of
solstice.
The
Maya could easily determine these dates, because at local noon, they cast no
shadow. Zenial passage observations are possible only in the Tropics and were
quite unknown to the Spanish conquistadors who descended upon the Yucatan
peninsula in the 16th century. The Maya had a god to represented this position
of the Sun called the Diving God.
The
Maya believed the Earth was flat with four corners. Each corner represented a
cardinal direction. Each direction had a color: east-red; north-white;
west-black; south-yellow. Green was the center. At each corner, there was a
jaguar of a different color that supported the sky. The jaguars were called
bacabs. Mayans believed that four jaguars held up the sky.
The
Maya portrayed the Ecliptic in their artwork as a Double-Headed Serpent. The
ecliptic is the path of the sun in the sky which is marked by the
constellations of fixed stars. Here the moon and the planets can be found
because they are bound, like the Earth, to the sun.
The Mayan Calendar
The
Maya used three different calendars. The first was the sacred calendar, or
Tzolk'in, which lasted 260 days and then started over again, just as our
365-day calendar refreshes once it hits Dec. 31. This calendar was important
for scheduling religious ceremonies.
The
second calendar was the Haab', or secular calendar, which lasted 365 days but
did not account for the extra quarter-day it takes the Earth to revolve around
the sun. (The modern calendar accounts for this fraction by adding a day to
February every four years, the reason we have leap years.) That means the
calendar wandered a bit in relation to the seasons.
The
final calendar was the Long Count Calendar — the recording method that has
caused all of the doomsday brouhaha of 2012. On Dec. 21 (approximately), the
calendar completes a major cycle, which has triggered doomsday fears and
mystical rumors about the end of an age.
Doomsday
or Not
Now
before I share my views on the Long Count Maya calendar. I want to define what a
calendar is. A calendar according to Merriam-Webster is “a system for fixing
the beginning, length, and divisions of the civil year and arranging days and
longer divisions of time (as weeks and months) in a definite order” . But in
this context we are looking at a time span beyond a single year. The Long count
calendar begins at 11 August 3114 BC, way before the mayans came on the scene. What
began at 3114BC? There are many theories. Some link it with a historic eclipse,
some say it was the beginning of the flood during noah’s days. What actually happened on 3114BC isn’t so
important. What is important is that it marked the beginning of something for a
people. The creators of the calendar I believe were knowledgeable to a great
extent. They had knowledge of astronomy from which they could device a calendar
system similar to what is used today. Their calendar ended in what is
interpreted to be 21st Dec 2012.
For the fact that they were able to create a
calendar that would extend into the future doesn’t imply that they foresaw the
future. And for the fact that their calendar ends on 21st Dec 2012, doesn’t
mean that they foresaw the end. I believe if the original maya were alive
today, they would have created another
calendar to continue from 21st
Dec 2012.
Now
the ultimate question most of you may now ask is, will the world end? To put it
rightly, will the world end today?
Yes! The world will surely end. Everything that is seen or will be seen here shall be destroyed utterly. It will end , but not as you think. The most common rumor is that a planet(Nibulus or Planet x) would enter into the earth’s axis and will trigger a catastrophic climate change that would lead to the destruction of all things. I fault this theory. I do believe that a comet would strike the earth at some point in the future. The scriptures speak about this star

“And
the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it
were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the
fountains of waters;”(Rev 8:10)
Will
the world end today? Definitely not! Why do I say so? The mayan calendar is an
ignorant way to predict or understand the end. I dare say that all the theories
about the end with regards to mayan prophecy shall cease after today. The
mayans race had no revelation of the beginning not to talk of the end. Ignorant
and naive people has wrongly interpreted what seemed to be a projection of mathematical
calculations. It is like calculating the number of years it would take for a
boy to become a man, just after discovering that 365days make a year and with
no knowledge of how long it would take to become a man. What you do is project
with a know figure. The mayans had to project with a figure that landed them at
21st Dec 2012. It is not possible to project till infinity.
If
you want to know and understand the real doomsday I urge you to look at another
race. Look and observe the jewish people and you shall understand when and how
it will all end. They are the oldest original race on the earth. They were and are to sense the
custodians of the Oracles, Revelations
and knowledge of Reality. The jews are a sign worthy to be observed. A sign ,
not of the end but the beginning of the
end. I dare say to as many that read this piece, that the end shall surely not
come this year, or the year after, even in 6 years. The beginning of the end marks when the Messiah Yeshua(Jesus the christ) returns.
Firstly, he shall take away those that believe in him(This event shall occur
before or immediately the peace treaty with Israel is signed) . The earth shall
have one government after which there shall be 7yrs of tribulation on this
earth. Then the Messiah Yeshua (Jesus the Christ) shall return again and
establish his throne in Jerusalem. And there
shall be 1000yrs of peace. After which there shall be A new earth.
In
summary, the total annihilation of the
earth shall occur after about 1007yrs after the return of Messiah yeshua(Jesus
the Christ). So rest assured, Doomsday
is not today.

well its the day after the end of the world and we all still here. I would agree that doomsday scenarios would be about the Jews.
